This stream addresses questions about the evolution of and diversity within fungal symbioses. Participants in the lab will focus on sequencing the DNA of fungi that are parasites of other fungi to characterize undiscovered diversity and poorly understood associations between fungal parasites and hosts. Kendra's mentorship style welcomes students to ask questions and make mistakes as they gain experience and confidence in a laboratory setting; she also prioritizes student involvement in outreach projects and scientific communication.
