The Hammond lab makes tools out of RNA and proteins usually for use in bacteria. We have a new way to toggle a protein's activity in bacteria and are looking for fun and interesting ways to use it! So far, we have toggled fluorescent and bioluminescent proteins, but we are thinking of some bigger picture uses. Toggling protein activity in bacteria specifically is very useful in industrial settings, waste treatment, probiotic drug delivery, and biofuel for cleaner energy.
