College of Science Strategic Plan

Adopted April 2024

The College of Science at the University of Utah advances the frontiers of research and innovation in science, mathematics, and engineering. We educate and mentor the next generation of STEM leaders, and work together to develop solutions for the economic, environmental, and societal challenges of our changing world.

The College of Science and the College of Mines and Earth Sciences both have long, impactful histories at the University of Utah. In 2022, the colleges began a merger process, which was completed in March 2024.  This Strategic Plan was developed by stakeholders across both colleges as a vision and roadmap for the future, and serves as a guide to the college through 2030.

Metric tracking

Progress on the Strategic Plan will be monitored through a number of predefined metrics related to student success and outcomes, research productivity and innovation, and impact of our programming. Tracking metrics and outcomes is important for the accountability of the College of Science and the community we serve. Beginning in December 2024, this page will be updated routinely with highlights, milestones reached, and statistics to assess progress. Check back frequently for updates.
