Come Home to the U.

Now is the time to make your plans for the College of Science Homecoming, September 27-28, 2019.

On Friday, September 27, we're throwing a party at the College of Science and want you to come. We promise an evening filled with activities celebrating and exploring science and mathematics. Enjoy family-friendly demos, hands-on experiments, department tours, a panel discussion, and much more.

Science Open House

  • Date: Friday, September 27, 2019
  • Time: 4:30 - 6:00 pm
  • Cost: FREE to the public
  • Location: Crocker Science Center (CSC) (GoogleMaps)
  • Free Parking: Chemistry Lots (Parking Map)
  • Program: Demonstrations, activities, and tours will start at 4:30 pm. The program will include family-friendly activities related to astronomy, biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics. Moving at their own pace, attendees can watch a physics show, see chemicals explode, peer into the microscopic world, stargaze using special daytime telescopes, and more.

Frontiers of Science: Distinguished Alumni Panel

  • Date: Friday, September 27, 2019
  • Time: 6:00 - 7:15 pm
  • Cost: FREE to the public
  • Location: Aline W. Skaggs Biology Building (ASB) (GoogleMaps)
  • Free Parking: Chemistry Lots (Parking Map)
  • Program: Join five distinguished alumni panelists working in cutting-edge fields as they explore the future of science and technology.
  • Panelists include:

Science Day 2019

Science Day at the U


The College of Science and the College of Mines and Earth Sciences at the University of Utah are pleased to announce the 31st Annual Science Day at the U, Saturday, November 2, 2019.

High school students (grades 9-12) from around the intermountain west are invited to attend a day of science-related workshops. These interactive workshops give high school students a great look at laboratory research and career opportunities in science, math and engineering.

Student Registration


Science Day registration is now closed. If you did not register and would like to attend, please come to the Union building at 8:30 am for a stand by seat.

All students under the age of 18 years of age must have a liability waiver to participate in Science Day.

Liability waiver

The University of Utah liability waiver form is REQUIRED to be completed by minor Participants (age 15-17) in order to participate in Science Day at the U. If you do not have a signed liability waiver YOU WILL NOT be allowed to participate in Science Day at the U. Please complete the liability waiver and return it via email to office@science.utah.edu by Wednesday, October 31, 2019 at 5:00 pm (MDT). If you do not have your liability waiver submitted by October 31, 2019 bring the signed liability waiver with you to the Science Day Check-In table – late forms will not be accepted via email. Participants who are 18 years or older by November 2, 2019 are not required to complete the liability waiver.
